“Custom Music Made our Wedding into a Movie!”
You might be asking yourself, “how big of a difference could custom music make?” Well, I have just the story for you:
On the eve of the wedding of the happy couple—Hannah and Spencer—the wedding party gathered at the church for a rehearsal of the ceremony. The string quartet began to play the newly-composed custom music representing Hannah and Spencer’s own love story. As the rich, low cello played the groom’s theme, the men took their place at the front of the church. The bridesmaids began to follow as the lovely violin melody, representing the bride, echoed through the sanctuary. As the music grew, the doors suddenly opened at the back of the church and revealed the bride-to-be. She continued down the aisle to her very own melody, written just for her . . . but something wasn’t right yet.
After the procession ended, everyone was all smiles and excited that it “went so well” the first time. However, after speaking to those opening the doors for Hannah, I had to step in to ask everyone if we could run it again. The request was met with confusion: “But the music sounded really great? Do we really need to do it again?” Spencer asked. “Trust me, it really will be worth it,” I assured him with a smile. The music was composed to build to the moment when the bride was revealed and arrive at a stunningly beautiful violin solo playing her theme. This is the kind of moment that only custom music can create.
Everyone retook their places and Hannah returned behind closed doors at the back of the church. This time after the groom’s cello theme guided the men to the front, and the bridesmaids processed to the bride’s theme as it poured forth from the strings, the doors remained closed for just a moment longer allowing the music to finish its crescendo at the glorious arrival of the bride.
Right at this exact moment, only a single violin note hung in the air as the music gasped right alongside everyone in the room. The other strings rejoined the music as Hannah walked down the aisle, holding tightly to her father’s arm. Nearly every jaw was dropped. Nearly every eye held tears.
The violin and cello melodies played a final time and the music cadenced, all of the bridesmaids broke from their places to hug Hannah and tell her how beautiful the moment was that they just experienced. The groom walked over to me and said, “You were right. For the first time, the world around me seemed to reflect the way I feel when she walks into the room.”
Spencer later told me, “Of course, our wedding day was going to be special, but it deserved every chance to make it as memorable as possible. You gave that to us. We will never forget any detail of that moment, and every time I listen to that music, our music, we get to live that moment over again.”
I think that this story shows exactly why we are so passionate about custom music, and we hope that it shows you just how big of a difference it can make in your own wedding.
